7th grade coach needs support!!!!
by posted 07/01/2010

Hello to everyone on this distribution list. Some of you may know me as the 7th grade boys' lacrosse coach. Some of you may know me from this email last year! Either way, I need your help...

When I'm not coaching, I help run a charitable foundation in Boston called PlayBall. Our goal is simple, we look to provide underprivelaged (predominantly urban) children the opportunity to participate in after-school sports programs. With school budgets tightening, these programs tend to be the first to go. Having participated in organized sports our whole lives, we at PlayBall understand how these activities provide children with meaningful life lessons regarding teamwork, leadership, dedication, and selflessness.

We are an official 501c3 organization and it's been a big year for us. Last year, with the money we raised from the annual boat cruise, we were able to start a middle school football and baseball league in boston. Here is the reaction from one of the teams we helped sponsor after a football playoff game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqKDIHqlD1E

You can check out some of the other accomplishents of our organization on our recently updated websitehttp://www.playballfoundation.org

Why am I reaching out to you now?

Because on Wednesday July 14, we will be throwing our big annual event and we want you to join us! On said date, we will be taking The Spirit of Boston for a our annual Harbor Cruise Party. All proceeds will go to The PlayBall Foundation and will hopefully fuel another successful year. It will certainly be a fun night in town. Tickets can be purchased from the website.

How you can help:

1) Attend or get your friends, family members, and/or co-workers to attend! We would love to see some new faces at our big summer event.  This is a great opportunity to get out and have some fun in Boston. Come with friends and enjoy a harbor cruise with good food/cocktails and a terrific live band "Night Shift" http://www.nightshiftent.com/content.php

2) Donate silent auction items. We are looking for any sort of items that could bring in between $50 and $1000. So if anyone has tickets to games, concerts, gift certificates, vacation homes that they rent out, Boston memorabilia, we would be thrilled for a donation. This is extremely important because it tends to be the way we raise the most money.

3) Donate. Any amount can easily be donated via the website. Last year a group of 20 rising freshmen mowed lawns and collectively were able to donate $1,000!

It has truly been a pleasure reconnecting with the Duxbury community over the past few years of coaching, and I can't tell you how much we appreciated all of the support we got last year. Any and all support you can provide with this event would be greatly appreciated.

You can email me with any questions. My email is

Thanks again for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Ian Franke

CrossRoads 4kids

Dear Parents and Players,

As we wrap up the hometown season I wanted to thank the parents and players for giving me a chance to coach and work with the young guys. They are great kids and have a very bright future on and off the field.

As we look back and realize how quickly the season passed it is important to understand how lucky each of the players are. We have great fields, equipment & coaches and the means to get out and play with our peers on a weekly basis. Many people in the lacrosse community are not as fortunate. The ability to use nice fields, afford the equipment and have these coaches are things that not everyone can afford and are sometime taken for granted. I have recently partnered with Crossroads for Kids (www.crossroads4kids.org), a local non-profit summer camp, providing an opportunity to at-risk kids to learn and develop. As a life-long player and coach, I have felt the impact that lacrosse can have. The structure, team focus, competitiveness and values learned from lacrosse are all life lessons that can help develop a young child.

My plan is to bring lacrosse to these at-risk children and teach them the values and traditions of the sport and give them an out. Throughout the summer/fall I will be working with these young children to help inspire and teach. What I ask of you is; if you have any left over/unused equipment that you could donate to the cause, these young children would be very much appreciative. We need as many sticks as possible (boys & girls) and whatever else may be lying around the house. I don’t ask that you give your favorite stick or your high-end gloves but merely something to get them going. I have emptied out my garage and was amazed at the stuff that I could find.

If you have anything you would like to donate I can come pick it up or you can drop it off at my house during your travels: 68 Samoset rd. Duxbury (last house on the left).  Please also feel free to forward this email along to anyone and I thank you very much for your support.

Best Regards,

Tripp Neville

Each town that achieves its Season Ticket Goal will receive:

·      10% of the total Season Ticket sales from your town donated back to your program

TICKET EXCHANGE PROGRAM

HOW IT WORKS:

·      All Season Ticket Holders have the ability to exchange any unused game tickets for future games that season allowing them the flexibility to get as much value as possible out of their tickets.

·      Tickets can only be exchanged at the box office on game days for tickets of equal or lesser value. Tickets must scan properly to show that the tickets being exchanged have not been used previously.

·      Exchanged tickets will be seated as close as possible to that Season Ticket Holder’s seats unless instructed otherwise. If we are unable to get the exchanged tickets close to the current seats they have the ability to request all of the seats together in the best available location of equal or lesser value.

·      All tickets being exchanged must be turned over to the box office at the time of the exchange.
